Judy Broom

TUF: Thriving Under Fire Workshop Facilitator

Judy is a research scientist who has developed a keen interest in working with people. She has the ability to work with groups in creative ways.

Judy brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to her work. After working as a bank teller she returned to University to gain a PhD in Biochemistry, and now works part-time as a research scientist at the University of Otago. Not content with lab work, she has expanded her skills by training in action methods and psychodrama with Training in Action, Dunedin, and studying the theory of psychotherapy at the Ashburn Clinic. She supervises staff and students as part of her scientific work, and now also practises as a counsellor and therapist.

Her science training encourages clear thinking and practicality while her psychodrama and psychotherapy training support her in understanding and getting alongside people.

Judy is committed to lifelong learning, and to encouraging people to be all they can be. She is an Associate Member of ANZPA and was President of the Otago & Southland branch for three years from 2003 to 2006.

Judy lives in Dunedin with her husband, two sons and a couple of cats.
